Donald G. Gloisten, J.D., PFP
CEO & Founder of GBS Financial

Donald Gloisten founded GBS in 1985, and began his financial services career in the summer of 1959 as a runner on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange for a summer job. He enjoyed the fast paced environment and returned to the Exchange after service in the US Army and was hired into the Examination and Compliance Department. With the assistance of the GI Bill of Rights, Donald completed his BA in Finance at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. While continuing to work at the New York Stock Exchange and with its support, Donald attended the Seton Hall Law School and passed the bar. After graduation, he was hired by Jack Dreyfus at the Dreyfus Fund as House Counsel. Donald worked at the fund for several years, but when his future wife moved to California, he followed. Once in California he decided not to pursue a career as an attorney, but joined the investment banking firm, Glore Forgan W.R. Staats & Co, one of the oldest in the state at the time. Don later worked as Training Director at Bateman Eichler and then at Wedbush Morgan Securities where he was Vice President and General Counsel.

The relevance of these positions and in starting his own firm in 1985 is that Don has always been a producer as well as an administrator. His primary interest has been in finding value in the people he works with, be they employees or clients, and bringing that value to the forefront of the relationship. While Don is active in the management of GBS Financial, he also maintains the investment portfolios of a large clientele. His interest in law and securities has taught him not only to respect the confines of regulation, but also to pass along that information to his clients and advisors. As an example, Don taught night classes on investments for over 30 years at UCLA as a contribution to investors and advisors alike. Don serves as arbitrator for the Financial Investment Regulatory Authority (FINRA), formerly the NASD and is treasurer of Northridge Hospital Foundation. In his spare time he and enjoys the outdoors and playing piano.
